We had a great time at MAHO’s anniversary celebration on October 7. We raffled off baskets filled with goodies, gave Maximum Access Awards to two greatly deserving agencies, played trivia, and otherwise had a blast. Many thanks to all who participated, especially our host, Dick Russ, and our anniversary sponsors.

DeAnn O’Bannon lives in the current Circle Vistas, which will be replaced with Cotman Vistas in 2013. DeAnn inspired the audience with her speech about the importance of accessible housing to her and neighbors: “There are great benefits to all in the construction of the new building. In Cotman Vistas people with disabilities can continue to have a meaningful life. The tenants and I think it is wonderful that we are staying in this community. We want to thank the staff and all the people who are involved in the building of Cotman Vistas. Thank you for building us a better home.”

We had a great time celebrating 30 years of accessible housing at our event on September 30. The evening included a video presentation, MAHO Jeopardy, and the announcement of Cotman Vistas. Maximum Access Awards were presented to two leaders in disability rights: Linking Employment, Abilities and Potential (LEAP) and Kathy Cotman. We also held several raffles, raising $3,000 for our Accessible Housing Resource Center!
