Anna’s Story

Anna has called MaxHousing’s Vistas Apartment Communities home since 1984, when she was just 19 years old. One of our first tenants, Anna has called two of our Vistas home. Anna first moved into Circle Vistas (our very first building that was replaced by Cotman Vistas in 2013), and moved to Lake Vistas in 1994.

When asked what she enjoys about living at the Vistas Apartment Communities, Anna said, “The people are nice – the people at the stores, in the community, everyone – it’s like we’re family.” Long entrenched in the disability community, Anna now enjoys spending time sewing, painting, and drawing.

After living in the Vistas Apartment Communities for over three decades, Anna expressed how the Vistas have changed her life, “I came alive. I got to do everything I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it.” And the advice she has for others seeking independent living or thinking about applying to MaxHousing’s Vistas waitlist is simple: “If you want to live on your own [or in the Vistas], try it. I survived, I’m still here, so you can be too.”
