Cynthia’s Story

Having called University Circle home for most of her life, with her family and support system still in the neighborhood, Cynthia moved into Cotman Vistas in 2019. A retired teacher with a disability, she loves to spend her time crafting and creating – you can find Cynthia displaying her crafting skills on the community announcement board located on her floor.

When asked about her experience living in the Vistas, Cynthia said, “I love the sense of community. No one looks at you funny or doesn’t understand what you’re going through. Everyone has a similar lived experience and is able to understand and be part of a shared community.”

Cynthia is an advocate for housing and disability rights, for herself and her communities and loves the sense of community and belonging that she gets with Cotman Vistas.

In previous apartments, Cynthia felt like she was always sick and had issues with her health; since moving into Cotman Vistas, Cynthia expressed that she’s been healthier and can live more independently.

She loves the community she has built here and knows that tenants can rely on one another through resource sharing and conversations. When asked what advice she would give to someone looking into the Vistas Apartment Communities her advice was simple, “Do it.”
