Sid’s Story
A self-described old person with neuropathy below his knees in both legs and poor eyesight, Sid was no longer able to live in his second-story apartment after breaking his ankle.
After his injury, Sid spent almost four years living in a local nursing home before calling Meadow Vistas home. Sid became aware of the Vistas Apartment Communities through his Transition Coordinator at the nursing home he was living in; he applied to multiple Vistas but ultimately settled at Meadow Vistas. When talking about the process of moving into the Vistas, he said, “The timing and the process [of moving into the Vistas] came together at the exact right time.”
Now Sid has called the Vistas home for almost two years. Most days, Sid starts his day by eating breakfast while he checks his email, does the daily Wordle puzzle (averaging only three attempts to solve each day!), and listens to NPR. He spends a lot of the day doing a lot of “thinking and things” – watching and listening to YouTube videos and his favorite podcasts, “I’m always learning and I’m good at technical things”. Sid loves to spend the day learning about history, science, and math, and enjoys thinking about and solving numbers. At the end of the day, Sid enjoys when it becomes dark and the quiet the night brings at Meadow Vistas, as well as the occasional deer seen out his window.
When asked what he enjoys about the Vistas, Sid expressed that he likes being able to do what he wants, when he wants, how he wants, and appreciates the freedom and independence the Vistas give him.
